Brooke Anne Makowiec

was a beloved and gifted young member of our community who was killed in an automobile accident on December 9, 2005 on her way to college.

Brooke was a talented softball player and catcher for the Addison High School Girls Varsity team. In 2005 Brooke helped her team win the Section V championship. At the time of her death, she was catching for the Finger Lakes Community College softball team, where she was pursuing a degree in Communications. Her career goal was to be an ESPN sports commentator.

All proceeds from the softball tournament will benefit the Brooke Makowiec Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Community Foundation of Elmira which was established in order to assist Addison High School graduates in continuing their education.
